Iris and Lupines: This jewelry is inspired by the colors of the wild iris meadows in Alaska and the Yukon.  Purple and blue wild iris and lupines are two of my favorite wildflowers. The gold rush ghost town of Dyea, Alaska, now mostly just a wide meadow, is the best place to find thousands of wild iris dancing in the beach breeze. They are in full bloom around 4th of July. The wild iris colors range from light lavender white to the darkest amethyst purple.  My favorite brilliant lupine displays are along the Klondike Highway between Skagway, Alaska and Whitehorse, Yukon.  Their long fingered leaves look like hands waving hello to the warm summer days.  We look forward to riding our bikes by them during the Kluane to Chilkat Bike Relay, held around the summer solstice. The race is 151 miles from Haines Junction, Yukon to Haines, Alaska.  At that time of year the sun is out almost 22 hours.  It is a blast.
